AKRON PUBLIC SCHOOLS' MARK A. HAGEN GROUNDS BUILDING

Thursday the Akron Public Schools dedicated the grounds building the Mark A. Hagen Grounds Building.

There were about 200 people in attendance. I was amazed by how many people came out. It was a rainy day but there was no rain while we were there. I met a lot of people that worked with Mark. They all had great things to say about him. He had many friends that came up to the family and talked to us.

One woman that was the first female Boiler Operator and Custodian for the Akron Public Schools told one story about Mark. She said that she is always wanting to try new things. Many years ago she came into the grounds building one day and Mark was about to cut out a piece of concrete from the floor to install some posts. Mark was using a special cutting machine that would cut and remove a 4" round x 12" long piece of concrete. The woman asked Mark if she could do it. Mark let her and she made the cut. To this day that woman still has that piece of stone on her desk. She will always remember Marks kindness.

Here are a few pictures from the dedication.
